We can't wait to share our farm with you. We hope this information will help you feel at home during your time here.
- We know many of you will be coming from out of town and are eager to see the farm in advance. We are a working farm on private property, and the days leading up to the wedding are extremely busy with event prep and other farm work. Additionally, we have uncontained, working livestock guardian dogs (who are put away on wedding days and for scheduled tours). For your safety and out of respect for staff, owners, and other clients, please do not visit prior to wedding day without scheduling a tour in advance. Unexpected visitors will be asked to leave. You may schedule a visit or ask questions by emailing us at [email protected]. We respond to inquiries and tour requests during normal office hours (M-F 9-5) and anticipate heavy email volume during the spring and fall wedding seasons, as well as winter holidays (engagement season). We appreciate your patience as we work hard to respond to all inquiries.
- On wedding day, please enter our address and not Windy Hill Farm into your GPS, and it should bring you right here
- 1319 Carr Store Rd, Cedar Grove, NC 27231
- Common driving times (expect longer driving times during lunch hours, rush hour for Friday weddings, on college game days, and if driving through downtown Hillsborough):
- RDU - 35-45 minutes
- Durham - 25-30 minutes
- Chapel Hill - 30-35 minutes
- Hillsborough - 15 minutes (we recommend following directions that take you to Efland-Cedar Grove Rd or adding 5 minutes to your drive time if taking Churton St/86 through downtown)
- Burlington - 30 minutes
- Greensboro - 45-50 minutes
- Please park within the painted spaces along the driveway before the sign for "drop-off/unload only beyond this point." From the road - left-hand spaces are perpendicular to the driveway, right-hand spaces are parallel to the driveway. Beginning 1 hour before ceremony start time, two parking attendants will be in the parking area to assist you. A golf cart is available should you need one.
- Our grounds are a combination of grass and gravel (both road base and chapel hill gravel), and our event pavilion has a poured concrete floor. There is a short walk from the parking area to the event space. We recommend comfortable footwear (wedges, flats, mules, & boots all work well).
- The inside of the farmhouse is reserved for the wedding couple, their immediate family (parents, grandparents, children, siblings), and their attendants (bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl, ring bearer, officiant). Please do not enter the farmhouse unless you are an attendant or immediate family member.
- Guest restrooms are located in the small "Adirondack" style building between the large, open-air event pavilion and the red barn
- Our ceremony sites are open-air (most are at least partially, if not fully, shaded), and our event pavilion is open-air with frills (cozy heaters, wind screens, wall fans, and a fire pit nearby). Don't forget a shawl, sweater, sun hat, or parasol if temperatures look variable.
- If you smoke, please place cigarette butts in one of the designated butt canisters. Please do not smoke, including e-cigarettes and cigars, under any roof on the property, including in the event pavilion, privy, and farmhouse, or in the pastures. The wedding couple may be charged for damages or cleanup resulting from smoking in prohibited areas.
- Windy Hill Farm fences will be off between 10am and 11pm on the day of the wedding. Feel free to climb through and visit with the goats during the reception. Our neighbors' fences, just on the right of the main driveway as you face the event barn, will be on, and we ask that you please respect their private property by not going through their fences.
- If you take any photos while you're here, don't forget to tag us @windyhillwed when you share them online!
